Yay I have completed the @bonnysnowdonacademy foundation course and this is my lovely certificate.

Swipe through the photos to see my progress. I have learnt a lot from creating art with coloured pencils which is certainly not easy. I am pleased with what I have achieved but still need to learn a lot more and improve.

Looking forward to doing more of Bonny's tutorials in the academy.

Yippeee I have finally finished the German Shepher

Yippeee I have finally finished the German Shepherd Dog from the @bonnysnowdonacademy tutorial and completed the foundation course😀

I have been creating this over the last month or so (joined the Academy in January) a little bit at a time. I thought I would never finish it, coloured pencil art is not easy and takes a lot of time and patience - lots of layering involved.

I am pleased with how it turned out for my first portrait on drafting film. I need to improve on my fur techniques - used the Tombow eraser and slice tool a bit too much I think. I learnt a lot from the tutorial and looking forward to doing more.

Loved working on drafting film, so easy to rub out mistakes, and I made a lot. Found it hard to follow the video tutorial, line art and confused myself even more by looking at the reference photo on my iPhone enlarged, however despite the confusion I managed to create this so really pleased.

Yay I have finished the Dog eye and nose studies.

Yay I have finished the Dog eye and nose studies. I think my noses look like strawberrys and have little faces.

Gosh still find working on pastel mat really difficult, always seems to look grainy and find it difficult to get the black really black. Find it a strange surface to work on with coloured pencil but hopefully will improve with practise. So far perfer working on hot pressed paper and film.

Now onto the German Shepherd next and looking forward to completing a full portrait on drafting film, think I need a better drawing board as this is a bigger piece.

Really enjoyed doing this tutorial of the Leopard

Really enjoyed doing this tutorial of the Leopard eye, love working on the drafting film. Need to improve my tombo and slice tool techniques, find that the stokes are sometimes too thick and the slice tool scratchy looking. It is amazing what you can do with coloured pencils. Great tutorial from @bonnysnowdonacademy

Yay, I have finished the long fur tutorial and my first time using Grafix drafting film. I ended up doing it twice as I found it so hard and wanted to practice. Really like drawing on the drafting film, found it easier than the pastel mat. Love the way you can rub out so easily and add highlights. Not totally happy with it but hope to improve. Now onto the Leopard eye.

This is part of the @bonnysnowdonacademy tutorials, I joined the Academy in January and loving learning all these fabulous techniques and being part of a group of very talented artists. xx

I've completed the @bonnysnowdonacademy curly hair

I've completed the @bonnysnowdonacademy curly hair tutorial, found it very hard to use the pastel mat. It looks nothing like the reference photo or Bonnys art, too much white and almost abandoned it to start again but thought I would leave it for a while before revisiting that tutorial. Hopefully I will improve, now onto the long fur.

Yay, I'm back, my first post in a while, as I have been busy working but now finished my temp Christmas job so back to creating.

I joined the @bonnysnowdonacademy in January and just getting round to doing some of the many tutorials. This is my first since joining - a study of fur from a reference photo (pixabay).

Learning how to use coloured pencils is not easy, so many layers created with little pencils. It is amazing what you can do to create texture. This is so much harder than other art materials I have used in the past.

Loving being part of the community in the Academy and looking forward to learning lots more and improving. xxx

Thoroughly enjoyed my second free live speed drawing lesson with @bonnysnowdonacademy yesterday, lovely way to spend New Years Day.

People from all over the world joined in following along with the 2 and a half hour session with Bonny teaching us how to draw this beautiful hare with coloured pencils. Swipe to see the wonderful photo we used as a reference drawing - Photo ref @suecrosswildlife

This is my second drawing using coloured pencils (swipe to see the first one I did with Bonny which was a close up study of a hare eye). I have found coloured pencils difficult to use compared to other mediums but hoping when I join the academy I will learn how to use them. There are so many layers involved and it takes a long time to do.

I found it hard to get the texture and highlights of the fur. I think I spoilt this drawing after our teaching session by experimenting with a scalpel knife on some of the fur to add highlights, which I had read how to do in a book. Not sure I was doing it right, but I don't like it, and I ended up damaging the paper - opps.

Really pleased with my first attempt, and looking forward to learning more. Happy New Year everyone xx

Yay my first coloured pencil drawing. Really enjoyed taking part in @bonnysnowdonacademy live draw yesterday. I followed Bonny's teaching and created this wonderful hare eye. Really pleased with it. It was great to take part in a free 2 and a half hour session, the time went so quickly.

I have been wanting to use my coloured pencils for a while and to start drawing again which I have not done for quite a few years now. I hope to continue with this next year and join the academy. x

Hey everyone, just to let you know, like many small businesses, I am closing my Etsy shop a bit earlier this year due to all the strikes. It will be closed from tomorrow and will reopen in the new year.

"I'm late! I'm late! For a very important date!" It was Day 3 (yesterday), of the @justacard Indie week challenge - your home and community, shops, artists, makers who you love.

There are lots of talented makers and gorgeous shops I love but unfortunately I can't mention all of them. One I absolutely love is the fabulous @suestails who is a very talented needle felt artist. I have bought several cute little mice and now a white rabbit which I gave a new home to earlier this year. I love this little rabbit sleeping in a clock, so cute ❤️ and so unique.

It’s day one of the @justacard Indie Week 5 day Instagram challenge - You.

I am an artist, illustrator and creative maker. I have an Etsy shop selling Coptic stitched books 📚 bookmarks 🔖 and jewellery using gorgeous fabrics and papers. I particularly love using Japanese themed designs, such beautiful vibrant colours with shiny metallic highlights of gold and silver and beautiful patterns full of meaningful design.

I also illustrate a range of greeting cards, prints and framed prints. I use archival pigment iprints so they last a long time.

I love experimenting with texture, pattern and colour and use mixed media in my art. I create art using traditional methods of art mixed with digital.

Next year I intend focusing on drawing again after spending several years learning the fantastic art of book making. I would like to learn how to use coloured pencils in my art and I want to focus on animals and nature.
